Žloutenka typu C
Žloutenka typu C může přejít u nemocného do chronického stavu, neléčená žloutenka typu C pak obvykle končí jaterní cirhózou či rakovinou jater. Podle odhadů odborníků je na světě chronicky nemocných žloutenkou typu C více než 180 miliónů lidí, například v USA je ročně odhaleno 25000 nových případů, v Česku počet nemocných žloutenkou typu C rok od roku také narůstá - v roce 1993 bylo objeveno 158 nových případů, v roce 2003 už to bylo 846 nových případů! Reálná čísla však budou mnohem vyšší, mnoho lidí o své nemoci totiž vůbec neví…
Nejohroženější nákazou žloutenky typu C jsou nyní narkomani, kteří si drogu píchají. Velmi rizikové je však i tetování a piercing, pokud nejsou zajištěny výborné hygienické podmínky pro jejich provedení. Možný je i přenos žloutenky typu C sexuálním stykem. Nakazit žloutenkou typu C se však lze i společným užíváním zubních kartáčků, holicích strojků a podobných předmětů.
Žloutenka typu C může dlouho probíhat skrytě s velmi nespecifickými příznaky - únava, přechodná ztráta chuti k jídlu, svědění kůže, pocit napětí v pravém podžebří či trávicí obtíže. Žlutavé zabarvení kůže se u žloutenky typu C nemusí vůbec objevit! Virovou žloutenku typu C lze v akutním stadiu rozpoznat jen zřídkakdy. Úspěšnost léčby žloutenky typu C se pak hodnotí dle trvalého zmizení viru žloutenky z krve.
Pacienti s vysokým rizikem infekce žloutenky typu C jsou především: narkomani, příjemci krevních transfuzí a transplantátů, hemodialýzovaní pacienti, operované osoby, tetovaní, osoby poraněné o pohozené injekční jehly, ale i další…
